  • Huss Breithaupt

    Player, Whitehorse, Yukon

“I learned so much in one week with AK hockey. I had the skatemill in morning for an hour and then on the ice at noon. The two sessions were really helpful. What I learned at the skatemill I could put into practice on the ice later that day. The coaches were all really helpful and had videos and pictures to help tell me what I should work on. I want to go back next year for sure.”

“My twin boys love coming to the Treadmill, not only do they have fun but I see a noticeable difference in their skating ability the next on ice session. I can’t tell you why, but it’s noticeable that their more stable on their edges and have a stronger more powerful push in their stride.“

    Parent – Kelowna, BC

“I want to thank you and your coaching staff for having my son Jameson (born 1999) as part of your AKHockey Train & Gain Apprentice Program this summer. He was determined this season to take his game to the next level and set some pretty high goals that required him to focus more on his training over the summer (both on and off ice). Your program was a great fit. Being on the ice almost every day with your groups combined with the skatemill and gym access improved his skating, strength and confidence (helping out when you were privately training some of your NHL Pro players was a bonus for him!).

Jameson went from a Tier 3/2 PeeWee and Bantam player to a KMHA Midget Tier 1 player and earned the opportunity to AP with both the Okanagan Rockets of the BC Major Midget League as well as the Kamloops Storm of the KIJHL (Jr B) for this season. He had such a strong start to this September that he has been approached by a WHL club about possibly attending their camp next year. Not only did he reach the goals he set for himself this year he is on his way to surpassing them.

Thanks Aaron for including Jameson in your program. We look forward to hearing what you’re planning for next year!”

  • Sandy Grant

Head Coach – Shaw Meadows Novice 3

“Our Novice 3 team was privileged to welcome Coach Aaron to our 2014/15 developmental program. His ability to touch on fundamental skating skills helped raise the game of all of our kids: both those playing at a high level for their age group and those who required extra attention.

By incorporating our coaching staff into the program, our group was left better prepared to focus on this aspect of our team’s game after our sessions had concluded. The value received to our team as a whole by partnering with AKHockey shines above any other similar program introduced to my groups to date.

For value and results, I highly recommend AKHockey and their teachings to any minor hockey coaches seeking to take all of their player’s skating abilities to the next level.”

    Parent – Prince Rupert, BC

“We booked our son for 3 different classes a day for 5 days, 2 on ice and 1 on the skatemill. He had a blast! Aaron and his staff did a great job and are very professional. My son couldn’t say enough about AK Hockey, he already wanted to book for the next summer session. Tyler’s skating has greatly improved, even his coaches noticed a big difference in his abilities when we started the new hockey season. “

  • Lorne Plemel

    Parent – Kelowna, BC

“Our children (girl 11 and boy 13) had never experienced anything like the skatemill before their first session this December. The Instructor put them at ease and was very professional and accurate in his explanation and demonstrations. He started at a slow pace and by the end of the first session I could see a big difference in their knee bend and forward stride. By the end of the five sessions they had both significantly improved their stride and acceleration and accuracy and strength in their shots. It showed on the ice during their practices and games. Well done and I would recommend this training for any hockey or ringette player who wants to improve the skating and shooting skills.“

  • Jeanie Walker

    Grandparent – Kelowna, BC

“As a grandparent we have seen an incredible improvement not only in our grandson’s ability, faster skating, better edges, better stick handling and shooting and the biggest change is the confidence this all has given him. We are so pleased and will continue to support our grandson in attending AK Hockey both on the skatemill as well as on the ice.“

  • Kim Poley

    Parent – Saskatoon, SK

“Our son has skated with many different organizations and skating instructors. I have watched him in groups where the instructor never once interacts or tells him what he can do to improve. What sets Aaron apart is that he actually cares about each child on the ice. My son is given individual attention and constant feedback about what he needs to do to improve.“

  • Treena Pastro

    Parent – Kelowna, BC

“Aaron has worked with our son for the past four years. Over that time his skating and puck handling skills have improved tremendously allowing him to make top tier teams even as a first year. Aaron is extremely knowledgeable, great with players of all ages and definitely gets positive results. Not only can he explain techniques and correct player deficiencies, Aaron is a tremendous skater himself and can show players how to skate correctly. Would not hesitate to recommend AK Hockey to any players who want to improve their skating and puck handling.“

  • Deana Stankoven

    Parent – Kamloops, BC

“Our son has had a real passion for hockey from the time he first started skating. Over the years we have trained on the ice as well as the treadmill with Aaron. The power skating has been instrumental in giving our son a solid skating foundation allowing him to play at a high level. Great edge techniques as well as agility, maneuverability and balance training has helped him immensely. Aaron’s attention to detail while training on the treadmill is extraordinary. His enthusiasm allows him to motivate and challenge the students in new skating techniques. If you want to have success as a player you must be a great skater Aaron has made a huge impact on players of all ages and that is why I’m extremely proud to have our son train at AK Hockey.“
